A North Kerry community group is calling on the Government to produce national guidelines on renewable energy.
The Tullamore Action Group has lodged an objection to the ten-year planning permission being sought by Terra Solar Limited for a wind farm at Tullamore, Drombeg, and Coolkeargh outside Listowel.
The proposed solar farm would cover a 245-acre or 99-hectare site, and would have a 35-year lifespan.
The council is due to decide on the application by September 11th, and the company behind the development, Terra Solar Limited, said it wouldn’t be making any comment until after this decision.
Dan Browne of the Tullamore Action Group has criticised the lack of engagement by the company and the government’s delay in implementing specific planning guidelines.
