Nominations sought for Hugh O’Flaherty International Humanitarian Award

Nominations are being sought for the Hugh O’Flaherty International Humanitarian Award.

It’s named in honour of the Killarney monsignor who saved the lives of thousands of people in Nazi-occupied Rome during World War II.

The Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Society is asking people to nominate a person or organisation around the world that they feel has made an outstanding contribution to humanitarian matters.

Last year’s winner was Fr Shay Cullen, Irish Columban Missionary to the Philippines.

The closing date for nominations is the 16th of June, and the winner will be announced in August before the presentation on the 4th of November.
