No free GP yet for under sixes in Iveragh Peninsula

No doctor on the Iveragh Peninsula has signed up for a new scheme to provide free GP care for children under the age of six. Doctor Fewer than half of Kerry’s general practitioners have signed contracts for the scheme which is due to commence in July.So far, 42 of the county’s 87 GPs, or 48 percent, have signed contracts with the HSE.Registration opened this morning for parents wishing to avail of the scheme.GPs who have not signed up can continue to charge a child’s parent a private fee.
