No danger to swimmers from Algae Bloom in Rossbeigh

The Marine Institute has moved to allay the fears of the public about an Algae Bloom that is resulting in the deaths of fish stocks. High cell counts of the bloom which is called the Karenia Mikimoto have been observed in the Rossbeigh and Dingle Peninsula areas. The Marine Institute were in the county on Friday last conducting sample tests on the bloom, which is visible from the shore. Section Manager with the institute Joe Silke says people can continue to swim in the water.
