No Castleisland In Men’s National Basketball League

Basketball Ireland logo St.Mary’s Castleisland will not be competing in the Men’s National League this season. Club Chairman Maurice Casey, a former player and assistant coach, says they are not in a position to enter the League due to the lack of availability of players. He added that they hope this will only be a temporary setback as the club has some very strong players coming through and hope to be back in the League in the very near future. Mary’s had been in the League for 10 of the previous 11 seasons, missing out only in 2004 to 5. They were unbeaten in 2009 to 10 when they won the Southern League title, National Cup and National League, won the League also in 2010 to 11, won the Southern title on numerous occasions and were Cup finalists in 2009.
