The number of people signing on Kerry’s Live Register increased by almost 10% in a month.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
They show there were over 6,200 people signing on the Live Register in Kerry in December.
During December, 6,290 people in Kerry signed on the Live Register.
That’s a 2% decrease when compared to December the previous year, when 6,409 people signed on in Kerry.
It’s also a 7.5% increase when compare to the previous month; in November last year, 5,848 people signed on in Kerry.
Four of Kerry’s social welfare offices reported annual decreases.
Cahersiveen is down 23 to 475, while Dingle is down 17 to 438.
Killarney’s social welfare office saw a decrease of 68 to 1,113, and in Listowel there was a drop of 35 to 1,017.
Kenmare’s social welfare office increased by one to 355, while there was also an increase in Killorglin of 14, bringing the number there to 462 and Tralee’s social welfare office saw an increase of 9 to 2,430 for December.
