Six properties within the Listowel Municipal District have been formally entered onto the derelict sites register.
The information was provided in response to a motion from Fine Gael councillor Michael Foley at the recent MD meeting.
Kerry County Council advised it holds active case files in relation to dereliction for 42 additional properties within the Listowel MD.
Of the six properties in the area on the register, three are located in Listowel town, while there is one each in Ballyheigue, Moyvane and Kilflynn.
The motion was seconded by Fianna Fáil councillor Michael Leane, who asked the council to pursue the derelict sites act in Ballyheigue, as he says there are a number of eyesores in the village.
The council says matters relating to dereliction are addressed in accordance with the provisions of the derelict sites act 1990.
