There are over 6,400 people signing on Kerry’s Live Register.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
In a month, the number of people signing on rose by almost 3%.
During January, 6,456 people in Kerry signed on the Live Register.
That’s less than a 1% decrease when compared to January last year, when 6,517 people signed on in Kerry.
It’s also an almost 3% increase when compared to the previous month; in December, 6,290 people signed on in Kerry.
Four of Kerry’s social welfare offices reported annual decreases.
Dingle is down 11 to 451, while Killarney’s social welfare office saw a decrease of 55 to 1,191.
In Listowel there was a drop of 26 to 1,005, and Tralee’s social welfare office saw a decrease of 22 to 2,451 for January.
The number of people signing on in Kenmare’s social welfare office remained the same as January last year at 381.
In Killorglin the number of people signing on rose by 33 to 478, and there was also an increase in Cahersiveen of 20, bringing the number of people signing on there to 499.
