Over 1,000 marriages were registered in Kerry last year.
That’s according to figures in the Central Statistics Office Marriages report for 2024.
It shows the average age for brides last year was 35.9 years, while grooms were on average 37.7 years of age.
Nationally, a third of marriages in 2024 were civil ceremonies.
According to the CSO, 1,064 marriages were registered in Kerry in 2024.
34 marriages in the county last year were same-sex ceremonies.
19 female couples tied the knot in Kerry in 2024, while 15 male marriages were registered.
1,030 opposite sex weddings were celebrated in the Kingdom last year.
Roman Catholic marriages accounted for the highest number of these, at 43% (439).
Civil marriages (21% - 217) were the next most popular ceremonies in the county in 2024, followed by other religious denomination celebrations (18% - 190).
In total, 91 humanist marriages were registered in Kerry last year; 101 spiritualist ceremonies were celebrated, while four Church of Ireland weddings were registered in the county.
