Family carers in Kerry are being encouraged to register for free training by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The seven week in-person courses have begun, with online courses starting in July; and are being offered ahead of National Carers Week, from June 9th to 15th.
It’s estimated 64,000 people in Ireland live with dementia, including over 2,400 people in Kerry.
The courses are led by experienced ASI tutors and focus on a person-centered approach, providing practical skills and information.

The seven-week course “Insights into Dementia – Informing and Empowering Family Carers” starts on 27 May in Kildare and Louth. For those who prefer to learn from home, the “Home-Based Care: Home-Based Education” online course begins 7 July and is open nationwide.
