New political party to be launched today

Lucinda Creighton is expected to outline her vision for a new political party today. Dail Chamber The former Fine Gael TD and Minister of State will announce a timeframe for the launch of the party this morning. Lucinda Creighton was expelled from Fine Gael in July 2013, afer opposing the government’s abortion legislation. She went on to establish the Reform Alliance with six other members, which held its first meeting last January. Since then there has been speculation that might progress to a real political party. Later this morning Ms Creighton will set out the timeline for the launch of a new political party and its four founding principals at a Dublin hotel. Reports this morning suggest the new party could be formally launched next month. It’s not yet clear who else would be involved or if members of the Reform Alliance may be joining.
