New network to represent public and medical service users

A new network has been established to represent the interests of the public and medical service users in the county. The group aims to provide people in the community with a voice in the health structure and identify the priorities of people using the health service. Strong cross community interest has already been expressed in the group. According to a group spokesperson with the group the forum will not be dealing with individual cases but issues the general public have with the health service. How the effects of reforms to the health service and the proposed restructuring of the shb are some of the issues the forum hopes to address. A public meeting has been scheduled for later this month to define the issues and aims of the group. Travellers, non-nationals, carers and the elderly are some of the sections of society that the group hope will participate. Brigit Quirke of the health network will give a presentation at the forum meeting. Communication has been made with the shb with a view to liaising with them. It`s proposed that identified needs of the health service in Kerry will receive support from the group.
