The Shannon LNG project is vital to the North Kerry area and the county as a whole.
That’s according to the new Cathaoirleach of the Listowel Municipal District Fianna Fail’s John Lucid.
Cllr Lucid was co-opted last year to Kerry County Council following the election of John Brassil to the Dail and said it was a fantastic honour to be elected Cathaoirleach of Listowel MD.
The proposed Shannon LNG Terminal at the Tarbert Ballylongford landbank has been identified as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) by the European Union on two consecutive listings of strategic energy importance.
The plans also got the backing of Leo Varadkar prior to his election as Taoiseach.
Cllr Lucid says he will be working to get the project over the line:
