New information card aims to make Tralee more dementia-friendly town

A new information card has been launched which aims to move Tralee towards becoming a more dementia-friendly town.

An interagency group, the Tralee Dementia Friendly Community Forum, created the card which aims to promote awareness and support businesses in their interactions with people who have dementia and memory deficits.

It was developed to encourage people to remain in contact with people living with the condition as well as their families and carers; it also provides tips for businesses to ensure their environments are dementia friendly.

These cards will be distributed to businesses and members of the public in Tralee.

The Tralee Dementia Friendly Community Forum is made up of the HSE, Cork-Kerry Community Healthcare, Tralee Chamber Alliance and Kerry County Council, Gardaí, representatives from local groups as well as family members of those living with dementia.
