Need for new waste water treatment plant for Fenit again stressed to Irish Water

Kerry County Council says it has again stressed the need to urgently upgrade the waste water treatment plant in Fenit to Irish Water.

Sinn Fein Cllr Pa Daly called for such a plant to be prioritised by the local authority.

The council says the contract documents for a 2.8-million-euro new sewage treatment plant have been prepared, 3.3 acres of development land has been acquired and the planning process completed.

The proposal to upgrade the existing 35-year-old plant is to be included in Irish Water’s Capital Investment Programme from 2021 to 2024.
