National Driver’s Union call for “lap” belts for taxi drivers

The Vice President of the National Driver`s Union Vinny Kerins says taxi drivers in Kerry have been subject to assault over the past couple of years. He is calling on the Government to issue ‘lap’ safety belts to taxi drivers to allow them to get out of their vehicles quickly if trouble occurs. This is in response to new legislation that all taxi drivers must wear safety belts from today. Speaking to this mornings Kerry Today, Mr. Kerins says there must be some compromise on this issue.
