A Rockchapel mother, whose daughter was murdered, is campaigning for an independent body to review domestic homicide cases.
Maria Dempsey’s daughter Alicia was killed in Newcastle West in 2010, along with her friend Sarah and Sarah’s two children.
Ms Dempsey spoke in the Dáil yesterday to discuss domestic homicide reviews.
She wants it to become law that a legal review is carried out.
Fianna Fáil have a bill which would provide for the domestic homicide review and would allow the Minister for Justice to order a review.
However, Maria Dempsey is seeking an amendment to that bill; she says she believes an independent review is the best and safest option.
