Kilgarvan 1-11 Sneem/Derrynane 1-10
The Kenmare District side got off to a good start with Colm Brosnan and Liam O Shea splitting the uprights before the South Kerry side levelled up soon after. However Tuosist were dealt a huge blow before the break with Liam O Shea having to retire with an injury. It was tit for tat at this stage with points exchanged and at the break it was Tuosist who led by 0-7 to 0-5. Conor O Brien and Raymond kicked points for Sneem/Derrynane and when their full forward Kevin O Sullivan found the net it looked as if Tuosist were in trouble. However, Colm Brosnan had 4 points and when Danny O Shea added another it was back in the melting pot once again. Sneem/Derrynane hit back with 2 points but Tuosist had the final say when Colm Brosnan hit home a penalty to claim a victory and a home tie against Ballyduff in the next round.
Kilgarvan 1-07 Knocknagoshel 2-11
Kilgarvan lined out without the injured Donal O’Sullivan and John Mark Foley. Kilgarvan’s injury woes continued when midfielder Gearoid Fennessey had to be taken off the pitch after the throw in with an ankle injury. When play resumed Kilgarvan’s Patrick O’Shea opened the scoring with a fine point. Knocknagoshel replied with a goal through Edmond Walsh, who finished up with a tally of 1-7. Kilgarvan scored the next 3 points, 2 for Patrick O’ Shea-one from a free-and a fine point from Daniel Casey. Knocknagoshel scored the next point and the sides were level after 20 minutes. Patrick O’Shea pointed a free before going off with a hamstring injury. Knocknagoshel finished the half stronger to go in 1-05 to 0-05 up at half time.
Knocknagoshel scored the first two points of the second half before Daniel Casey pointed two frees for Kilgarvan. Knocknagoshel pushed on and got the next 4 points and a goal from Danny Roache to go up. Kilgarvan’s teamwork resulted in a fine goal for Keith Harrington but time ran out and Knocknagoshel won on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-07. Knock’s remaining scores came from Michael Walsh, John Walsh, Conor Sheehan and Gary Dowling. Knock now have a home tie against Duagh in the next round.
