It’s hoped work on Molls Gap will be substantially completed and open to traffic by April 28th.
Deputy Chief Executive of Kerry County Council Charlie O’Sullivan said the works have been extensive and some other issues had arisen during the works.
He said however the rate of progress had been positive and the route may even open a little earlier than the proposed date of April 28th.
The estimated cost of the repairs works to the retaining wall on the N71 near Molls Gap is €720,000; this includes design costs, construction, site supervision and traffic management.
Minor works are expected to continue on Molls Gap until May 12th.
