Mixed Day For Irish Boxers In Doha

Boxing GloveThere were mixed fortunes for the three Irish fighters yesterday at the World Championships in Doha. Brendan Irvine and Michael O’Reilly both won their opening bouts to progress to the last-16 in their weight categories, but there was disappointment for Dean Walsh, who lost his Light Welterweight fight by a split decision. There’s two more Irish boxers in the ring today at the World Championships in Qatar. Lightweight Sean McComb will be first into the ring when he faces an Mexican rival in the afternoon session. And later this evening, Adam Nolan will begin his welterweight bid against a Lithuanian opponent in their last-32 contest.
