Minister speaks out on Judge Brian Curtin case

Minister Michael McDowell has said there will be no deal done with Judge Brian Curtin. The Minister for Justice was speaking following last week’s High Court ruling which upheld the right to hold impeachment hearings against the judge. The special committee set up to investigate the issue had suspended its work pending the outcome of the High Court challenge but it will now resume gathering evidence. Michael McDowell has now reiterated the government’s position that the impeachment motion and debate will proceed. He says the high court ruling vindicates the Government’s decision to go down this route.
