Minister says University Hospital Kerry is not getting its fair share of resources

The South/ South West Hospital Group management within the HSE has been accused of undercutting operations at  University Hospital Kerry.

Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, Transport and Sport, Brendan Griffin believes UHK is not getting its fair share of resources, with Cork University Hospital getting priority over Kerry.

Minister Griffin said there’s a serious recruitment issue at UHK which is now consistently amoung the worst peformers nationally in terms of trolley numbers.

The Kerry Fine Gael TD believes it’s time for the Health Minister, Simon Harris to intervene.

Meanwhile, speaking on the housing crisis Minister Griffin say the number of vacant properties falling into disrepair while people are homeless is a huge issue.

He and Kildare TD Martin Heydon are working on a policy which would see those houses being used and also help rural depopulation.
