The Minister for Education is rejecting allegations she hasn’t been transparent on the Leaving Cert grading and schools reopening issues.

Norma Foley says the Department of Education has examined grading systems in other jurisdictions and she’s been open on how it’s working in Ireland.

The Minister says the need to reduce school bus capacity for post-primary students by 50% will be a logistical challenge.

In order to do this, 1,600 extra busss will be needed, but Minister Foley says it can be done to ensure safe transport of students.

Kerry Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae operates school buses.

He has significant concerns and is questioning whether the government’s solution can be implemented.
