Last Sunday at Longchamp Ballydoyle landed a Group 1 victory to jump to the top of the betting for next year’s 1000 Guineas but five days later Minding leapfrogged her stablemate after a sensational four and a half length victory in today’s feature at Newmarket, the Group 1 Fillies Mile, for Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore. She was well-backed to win today, sent off 5-4 from 2-1 this morning, and that market confidence proved well justified as she bounded away from her nine rivals to beat 4-1 Nathra with the 10-1 chance Hawksmoor back in third under Pat Smullen. Bookmakers wasted no time in cutting her odds for next year’s fillies classics, including making her a best price 4-1 favourite for next year’s 1000 Guineas. Tomorrow is another big day for O’Brien and Moore back at Newmarket, they run the ante-post favourite for next year’s 2000 Guineas, Air Force Blue, in the Dewhurst Stakes.
