Milk haulers protest outside Kerry Group offices

12 contract milk haulers are protesting outside Kerry group offices in Tralee because of what they describe as a charade to break old contracts with them. They are claiming that Kerry Groups tendering process does not offer guidelines as to how the contracts will be awarded and so the cheapest tender will win the contract. The drivers are refusing to adopt the new system and want meaningful talks with Kerry Group on the process. Spokesman for the group Eugene Drennen says the new system will have serious consequences for them. A spokesman for Kerry says they have been given 12 months notice of the move to tendering. The spokesman says the fact that the 12 Clare drivers have not taken up the opportunity is a matter for them. He added that Kerry must organise it business as efficiently as it possibly can.
