A Mid Kerry rainfall recording station shows nearly ten feet of rain fell throughout 2017.

Met Eireann’s Annual Weather Summary shows 3 metres–or just under ten feet–of rainfall was recorded at Cloone Lake, Glencar last year.

This was the highest annual recorded rainfall nationwide.


In comparison, Ringsend in Dublin recorded the lowest annual rainfall total of 570 millimetres, or just under two feet, approximately one-fifth of Cloone Lake’s total.

Valentia Observatory recorded a total of 1600 millimetres-or just over five feet-in 2017.
