A mid-Kerry farmer has praised members of the fire service for bringing a blaze on his land under control.
Michael McSweeney first discovered the fire on his land in Glencuttane Upper, Beaufort in the early hours of Monday morning.
The fire was brought under control by Kerry Fire Service but reignited last night and led to the Ballaghisheen to Waterville road being closed for a number of hours.
Michael said the fire was driven on by the wind and came close to two properties.
He is grateful his cows and young calves survived but says the land and fencing has been scorched.
