Independent Deputy Michael Healy-Rae has launched a stinging attack on his constituency rivals in a letter sent to publicans and hoteliers in the county.
In the letter, the Kilgarvan TD says Minister for Transport Shane Ross’s road safety legislation has had a devastating impact on publicans’ trade.
In the letter Deputy Healy-Rae says he wished to remind publicans that the Minister’s legislation was fully supported by the Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin Kerry deputies.
Deputy Healy-Rae also said the decision to increase the VAT rate is having what he describes as an awful effect on business and that it’s ironic it was when Kerry had a Minister for Tourism in that this should be allowed to happen.
The Deputy’s letter contains a promise to pick up the pieces of what he claims to be the devastation to business by pursuing the issue of transport to be made available in rural areas.
The letter then goes on to describe the legislation as a devastating blow to publicans and hoteliers by the government and its supporters.
