Michael Dineen reacts to ward closure announcment.

The Southern Health Bord needs to assess the demands of Tralee General Hospital for 2005 accurately in order to put in place a more realistic budget according to Michael Dineen of the I.N.O. Mr Dineen was reacting to the announcement that the closure of 30 beds for three months has been reduced to four weeks.Hospital management say presentation levels remain high and it is no longer feasible to temporarilary close one ward. Last year a 30 bed ward closed for three months to allow the General make a saving on holiday cover. Mr Dineen says the presentation levels should be calculated accurately and factored into the budget for 2005 or else the hospital will be facing a closure next year.
