Meeting in Tralee tonight to discuss medicinal cannabis

A meeting on the issue of legalising cannabis for medicinal purposes, is to be held in Tralee tonight.

Among those addressing the gathering is Vera Twomey from Cork, whose daughter Ava suffers from Dravet’s Syndrome; a condition that can be greatly eased by taking small amounts of cannabis oil.

Ms Twomey recently walked from Cork to Leinster House to highlight the need for a change in the legisation surrounding cannabis for medicial purposes.

Also on the line-up for tonight is Tom Curran, whose partner Marie Fleming unsuccessfully campaigned to allow him to assist her to die.

The meeting is being organised by People Before Profit TD Geno Kenny, and it’ll be held at The Grand Hotel at 8pm.
