A meeting is taking place this week in an attempt to secure a post office service for a North Kerry village.
Residents in Kilflynn have called a public meeting for this coming Wednesday in St Columba’s Hall, Kilflynn.
Recent rationalisation plans by An Post has led to the closure of a number of post offices around the country, with Kerry one of the rural counties being affected.
Following the closure of Kilflynn Post Office in August, local residents, supported by People Before Profit Kerry, have called a public meeting to discuss a challenge to An Post, in order to secure a post service for the village.
Resident and organizer, Bec Fahy, says rural villages are being neglected, and losing the village post office will be another nail in its coffin.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday at 8.30 pm in St Columba’s Hall, Kilflynn.
