Mayor criticizes Councillors at monthly meeting.

The Mayor of the county has criticized Cllrs for not attending afternoon sessions of the County Council. At yesterday’s monthly meeting proceedings had to be halted a number of times in order to call members back into the chamber. Kerry County Council has 27 members but only a small number of these showed up for the afternoon sessionAt least 7 Cllrs have to be present in the council chamber in order for business to continue and motions to be discussed. During one of the breaks in proceedings Mayor Brendain McGeralt expressed his surprise at the small number of Cllrs attending the meeting. He said seeing elections are coming he would have thought that all Cllrs would at least be in the chamber to raise their own motions.
