A master plan for the Áras Phádraig site in Killarney will be completed this year.
The building on the Lewis Road was developed in the 1960s by the Franciscan Friars as a community centre; the Franciscans donated it to the town of Killarney in 2009.
Cllr Niall Kelleher raised a motion at the recent Kerry County Council meeting calling for an update on the site.
Council management say a project team is now in place to advance the preparation of a master plan for Áras Phádraig and the adjoining Lewis Road car park.
They say there will be a definitive plan for the site this year and it’ll be brought before councillors.
