Man dies in three car collision

A 21 year old man has died following a three car collision in Killarney overnight. It happened at around 12.15am on the Killorglin road. The crash happened at Gortrue near Ballydowney on the Killarney to Killorglin Road. It’s understood the dead man was the driver of one of the cars and he was pronounced dead at the scene.Seven people were injured in the crash and they were taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee, but they were not thought to be seriously injured. Everyone involved in the tragedy had an address in the county, but gardai are not revealing the name or the address of the deceased at this stage. The fire brigade were involved in the rescue operation and they assisted the ambulance service.There are reports this morning that the road surface is slippery as a result of oil and debris resulting from the collision, but Killarney Town Council is currently trying to make the road safe. Gardai in Killarney are appealing for witnesses to the accident and they can be contacted on 064-31222.
