Man dies in stabbing incident inTralee

Assistant State Pathologist Margaret Bolster has concluded her post-mortem on the body of Tralee man Michael Faulkner who died following a stabbing incident last night. Preliminary results carried out at Kerry General Hospital indicate the father of six died following injuries received from the assault. The result of the examination is expected to be known in a number of days. Gardai have detained a third man for a further 6 hours in connection with the incident that took place near Mitchell`s Crescent estate. Two other men in their 20s are also being held in connection with the incident. Mr Faulkner was 43-years-old and lived at number 7 Mitchels Crescent, Tralee. Gardai responded to a call from a member of the public at 20 to 12 last night. On arrival they found the man in a roadway near the grotto at mitchels cresent estate He appeared to have stab wounds and was taken to Kerry General Hospital where he later died. The man was a member of a large family in the area. A murder enquiry was launched and three males are now being detained at Tralee Garda Station for questioning. The men are being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. The area where he was found has been cordoned off and is being preserved for technical examination. Inspector Martin McCarty who`s heading up the investigation says their enquiries are ongoing.
