CYCLING

Ireland's Sam Bennett was placed seventh in the intermediate sprint on Stage 12 at the Tour de France and won seven more classification points.

His closest challenger for the Green Jersey - Peter Sagan was two places behind Bennett.

The Carrick-on-Suir rider now has now increased his lead by two to seventy points lead in the classification standings.

There's over 120 kilometres left to go on the stage.

GOLF

Shane Lowry is hoping to find some form ahead of next week's US Open.

The Open champion will be in action later at the first event of the new PGA Tour season, the Safeway Open in California.

RUGBY

Three Leinster players and two from Ulster feature in the Guinness Pro14 dream team for the 2019-2020 season.

Leinster forwards Scott Fardy, Will Connors, and Max Deegan have been named in the selection, while Ulster backs John Cooney and Stuart McCloskey have also made the cut.

Meanwhile, Leinster number eight Caelan Doris has been named the Pro14′s ‘Next-Gen Star’ for the season.

TENNIS

The US Open women's singles semi-finals take place from midnight tonight in New York.

Third seed Serena Williams takes on Victoria Azarenka.

2018 winner Naomi Osaka is up first against Jennifer Brady in the other semi final.

FORMULA ONE

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will join Racing Point next season.

The Silverstone-based team will become Aston Martin in 2021.

Vettel was a free agent after Ferrari opted not to extend his deal beyond the end of the year.

He'll take the place of Sergio Perez at the team.

HORSE RACING

There's an eight-race card at Navan this afternoon, with the first off at 1.15.
