Loss of 20 jobs as iconic Kerry bakery closes

An iconic Kerry Bakery has closed its doors for the final time.

Operating in Rock St. Tralee since 1925, Barry’s Bakery closed at 2 o’clock today following a staff meeting.

The closure means the loss of 20 jobs.

A statement from Barry’s Bakery says it is with regret that it announces its closure which has been attributed to falling sales.

They thank their hardworking staff, family, suppliers and loyal customers.

A liquidator will now be appointed.

Barry’s shop which is operated independently by extended family is not affected and continues to trade.
