Longford Upset Cork In SSE Airtricity League

Longford Town produced an upset last night in the Airtricity League Premier Division. The midlands side dented Cork City’s hopes of a runners-up finish in the league after the came from a goal down to claim a 3-2 win at Turners Cross. Newly-crowned champions Dundalk were held to a scoreless draw by Galway United at Oriel Park. St Patrick’s Athletic boosted their European prospects with a 2-1 win over Drogheda United at Richmond Park. There’s action again this evening in the Premier Division. Bray Wanderers host Shamrock Rovers at the Carlisle Grounds from 5:45. At half-six, Limerick take-on Derry City at the Markets Field and there’s a 7:45 kick-off between Sligo Rovers and Bohemians at The Showgrounds. There’s also four games tonight in the First Division. The top-two in the table go head-to-head as Finn Harps will look to consolidate their place in promotion play-off spots as they host newly-crowned champions, the Wexford Youths. Elsewhere, Cabinteely host Athlone Town in Stradbrook, while Shelbourne face Cobh Ramblers at Tolka Park and UCD visit Waterford United. All of those matches get underway at 7:45.
