There are now over 16 such partnerships around the country and they aim to promote opportunities for people who participate in sport on a regular basis.Local sports partnerships bring together all agencies involved in sport, such as local authorities, sports clubs, health boards and schools. The initiative was launched back in 2001 and is central to the development of sport in Ireland. For Kerry it will mean a guarantee of funding for at least the next 3 years.
