Local fisherman speaks out on drop in salmon numbers

Large commercial fishing boats are to blame for the drop in salmon numbers in rivers according to local fisherman Brendan Hannon. He is responding to anglers who blame all drift net fishermen for the drop in salmon stock. Mr. Hannon is a traditional net fisherman working at the mouth of the Shannon. He believes the rise of large commercial fishing boats at sea have depleted the levels of wild salmon for the past 15 years. He says traditional fishermen and large commercial fishing vessels cannot be compared.
