Local election candidate calls on Minister to review Tenant Purchase Scheme

A Kerry local election candidate is calling on Minister Eoghan Murphy to review the Tenant Purchase Scheme.

Marie Moloney wants the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoghan Murphy to review it, to give retired people and those with disabilities the opportunity to purchase their local authority house.

Under the terms of the existing scheme part of the income by applicants must be earned income which means such groups cannot purchase their house.

Ms Moloney says this is grossly unfair and wants the issue addressed.
