The Local Authority Members Association conference is taking place in Castleisland over the next two-days.
The conference will focus on tourism, its economic benefits and the role of local authorities play in the industry.
The Local Authority Members Association’s Autumn Seminar is beginning today in The River Island Hotel and will continue tomorrow.
The conference will officially open with an address from LAMA chairperson Cllr Mags Murray and Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Norma Foley.
The first session will look at the economic development of tourism and the role of county councillors.
It will be chaired by Cllr John Sheahan and speakers will include Moira Murrell, CEO KCC; Joan McCarthy, Head of Tourism KCC and John Griffin, Tourism Officer with Fáilte Ireland.
Also up for discussion is the implication of aggregation of mileage, expenses and gratuity and GDPR consequences.
Minister for Tourism and Sport Brendan Griffin will be special guest for the conference banquet tonight.
Tomorrow the focus will be on social media and the benefits it brings.
Peter O’Connell, Editor of the Clare Champion will address the members before the conference concludes.
