Liverpool Sign Nathaniel Clyne

The Reds had a £10m bid for the England right-back rejected, but the 24-year-old has now agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League side. Clyne, who had a year left on his Saints contract, is Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer. Meanwhile, Sylvain Distin is staying in the Premier League. After being released by Everton, the 37-year old centre half has signed a one-year contract at newly-promoted Bournemouth. Irish international Paul McShane is reportedly close to signing for Reading. The defender is undergoing a medical with the club today and looks set to join as a free agent after he was released by Hull following their relegation from the Premier League. If the makes the move to the Royals, McShane will be following his Hull team-mate Stephen Quinn, who finalised his transfer earlier this week. A couple of big-money transfers have been completed on the continent. Bayern Munich have completed the 30-million euro signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian midfielder, Douglas Costa. While Atletico Madrid have paid Porto 35-million euro for their Colombian striker, Jackson Martinez.
