Listowel wins new award in Tidy Towns competition

Listowel has been presented with its award for the towns efforts in the race against waste. The race was introduced as a new category to The Tidy Towns this year and Listowel was highly commended for its efforts in the area. Sponsored by The Department of the Environment, the campaign aims to raise awareness about reducing waste and recycling. The Listowel campaign focused on businesses and the need for them to use proper waste contractors instead of local bottle banks which are for householders. They also promoted composting in the town. Minister For The Environment Dick Roche presented the award to the town last night.
