ASTI The  principal of a school in North Kerry which is facing the loss of a teacher under  a new government directive says it’s time for the ASTI union to come on board with the Haddington Road Agreement. St Michael’s College in Listowel is on a list compiled by the Department of Education which is over the 1 to 28 teacher pupil  ratio. The Department of Education says the school will lose a teacher as they are not under the protection of Haddington Road which precludes compulsory redundancies. Principal of St Michael’s in Listowel, Johnny Mulvihill, who is a member of the ASTI, says he fails to see what concessions the union can get without the support of the other teacher unions.
