Listowel flood relief scheme expected to go out on public consultation soon

It’s hoped plans for a flood relief scheme for Listowel will go out on public consultation soon.

Clieveragh has been prone to flooding for a number of years, with both home owners and businesses effected.

Earlier this year, Kerry County Council appointed Malachy Walsh and Partners Consulting Engineers to carry out a detailed design of the Clieveragh Flood Relief Scheme.

Wet weather delayed site clearance works being carried out until the end of May, but since then a detailed survey of the land, followed by site investigations and soil sampling have taken place – all of which were necessary to progress to the detailed design stage.

It’s expected the plans will go out on public consultation soon, as part of the part VIII process, where the council applies for planning permission for the flood relief scheme.

The plans will be on public display in the Listowel Municipal District offices for six weeks where members of the public can view them, after which a report will come before councillors for approval.
