Listowel Councillors vote to rezone 30 acres of land

A large development of houses and commercial units proposed for the outskirts of Listowel would rip the heart out of the town according to the Town Manager. Councillors were voting to rezone over 30 acres of land residential despite strong opposition from the towns planners. The officials said there was already almost 500 acres of residentially zoned property in Listowel that had yet to be developed. The motion by Councillor Ned Sullivan was for the rezoning of 42 acres of agricultural land in total, 9.6 acres to commercial, and 32.4 to residential on property at the Ballybunion Road. Councillors unanimously voted in favour of the motion, however it`s up to Town Management as to whether the variation will get the green light.
