Large increase in the number of thefts from vehicles in Kerry

There has been a large increase in the number of thefts from vehicles in Kerry over the past year.

According to figures released at the recent Joint Policing Committee meeting, 95 thefts from vehicles were reported during the first nine months of this year.

This represents an increase of 28% on the same period in 2018, when 74 offences were reported.

There was also an increase in the number of vehicles being taken without authorisation; there were 26 offences reported to Kerry gardaí, which is an increase of four on 2018’s figures.
