A mother-of-four has described an attack on her home in Killarney in the early hours of this morning as terrifying.
The attack took place around 1 o’clock this morning, when it is believed a petrol bomb was thrown at the front door.
Michelle O’Brien was asleep in her home in Hazelwood Drive, Ballyspillane at the time, along with her husband and four children.
Gardaí in Killarney were called to the scene and are investigating the incident.
Several of the windows were smashed and there is fire damage to the door and the roof of the property.
Michelle O’Brien who lives in the house with her family woke to a loud bang and her front door was on fire; she says it was terrifying.
Her priority was to get her children to safety, one of which is under 2-years-old.
No one was injured in the incident, but Ms O’Brien says someone could have been killed.
There have been long-standing feud-related tensions amongst families in Ballyspillane and it is believed this morning’s attack is related to that ongoing feud.
Kerry County Councillor Donal Grady says people are living in fear there, with some people residing there selling their homes.
Cllr Grady is calling on Gardaí and Kerry County Council to take action, saying Ballyspillane residents deserve better.
Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made as of yet.
