A Killarney man charged with theft from an elderly person has been further remanded in custody.
29-year-old Denis O’Brien of 2 Hazelwood Drive, Ballyspillane was before Cork District Court again yesterday.
Denis O’Brien is charged with theft of €600, of stealing a €4,900 cheque, and the alleged theft of a blank cheque from a woman at Brian Dillon Park, Cork on September 26th; he is also charged with stealing €4,500 cash from the same woman the following day.
The state objected to bail due to fears Mr O’Brien would target elderly vulnerable people for thefts throughout the country if released, according to the Irish Examiner.
He has been further remanded in custody until October 24th.
Judge Olann Kelleher remanded the accused in custody for that period on the application of Sergeant Gearóid Davis to allow time to obtain instructions from the DPP.
